About Excelsis

Excelsis Performance Strategies is a professional development firm that specializes in assisting individuals in defining, enhancing, and implementing their professional and personal objectives.  The heart of our work is to meld clients’ goals and talents into an effective and successful plan of action.

Business coaching is the process of engaging in meaningful communication with individuals in businesses, organizations, institutions, or governments, with the goal of promoting success at all levels of the organization by affecting the actions of those individuals.

Business coaching enables the client to understand and enhance his or her role in achieving business success. The business coach helps the client discover how personal characteristics, including a sense of self and personal perspectives, affect personal and business processes and the ability to reach objectives within a business context. Successful coaching helps the client learn how to change or accommodate personal characteristics and how to create personal and business processes that achieve objectives.

Business coaching establishes an atmosphere of trust, respect, safety, challenge, and accountability to motivate both the coach and the client.

In turn, this requires that the business coach conduct an ethical and competent practice, based on appropriate professional experience and business knowledge and an understanding of individual and organizational change.

WABC Business Coaching Definition

The following definition of our emerging profession is the outcome of many contributions from business coaches and others. The definition is evolving. We welcome your comments, advice, and constructive criticism.

With this method, successful coaching helps the client learn how to change or accommodate personal characteristics and how to create personal and business processes that achieve objectives.

Business coaching establishes an atmosphere of trust, respect, safety, challenge and accountability to motivate both the coach and the client. In turn, this requires that the business coach conduct an ethical and competent practice, based on appropriate professional experience and business knowledge and an understanding of individual and organizational change.

Note: The above definition includes a range of practice (e.g., team and individual coaching) within business coaching. But throughout, there is a clear focus on achieving business objectives. It is this focus that distinguishes business coaching from other types of coaching. Business coaching addresses the client’s development for the purpose of achieving business outcomes rather than achieving personal or career goals.

Testimonials

What does coaching by Phyllis Campagna mean to me? When I was told by my boss that he was giving me the gift of coaching with Phyllis, I didn’t know quite what to expect, however I was excited with the prospect. For me personally, it has been part therapy, a sprinkling of spirituality, a lot of business savvy and friendship all rolled into one. I have grown as an individual in ways that I didn’t think possible. I valued the advice she gave and through her ”homework assignments” and suggested readings I learned things about myself and also about dealing with others. She saw through my strengths, talents and weaknesses. For example, Instead of being judgmental, now I go neutral. I have learned to reframe and center myself. As I have handed-off the majority of my duties, in preparation for retirement, I have handled my natural grief in letting go and have not taken things so personally. Another invaluable lesson was the group assignment “Making and Keeping Deadlines.” It taught all of us involved that without deadlines there is no commitment. I would recommend coaching if given the opportunity, to those who are willing to make changes in themselves.
